Nokia 5230 Review, Unboxing and Specifications

Nokia 5230 (black) gives a first impression of being younger brother of Nokia 5800. I have been waiting for its Black color to launch in Pakistani Market from a long time and finally few days back I got it. It has S60 5th Edition on Symbian and 3.2″ screen, 2.0 mp camera, Contacts bar and Media bar, on home screen, 3.5mm audio jack and integration with Nokia’s Ovi services. Nokia 5230 runs the latest Symbian S60 5th edition. The device is capable of 33 hours of non-stop music playback. Since the review of Nokia 5230 was my first ever evaluation for any mobile, so I was pretty eager as well. When I opened the box I was not that impressed but after first use I fell in love with this gadget because of its features in low price. Means you might not love Nokia 5230 because of its look but its features will take down your heart. Nokia 5230 is a low-mid range smart phone and let you have touch screen experience in low price without any lack of essential feature. The only thing which disappoints you is lack of wifi and makes your internet billing very high.
Deference between 5800 and 5230: Everyone loves 5800 because of its sound quality and look. So I thought to compare 5230 with 5800. Nokia 5230 looks quite similar to 5800 but lacks some features which 5800 (tube) have. Such as: Nokia 5230 lacks wifi, but its user interface looks better than 5800 since there was lot of rumors that user interface for 5800 have few flaws.
Camera Experience: When I saw there was no flash with camera, I was bit frustrated but I was amazed on its camera results. It was hell of worthy to have such quality camera in such price. It has 2mp camera with autofocus and lots of features in it.
Music Quality: No doubt 5230 not belong to Xpress Music series, but its excellence of music through headphones is amazing. There is no motive of disliking it.
Speakers: Nokia 5230 has mono speakers but its sound is if truth be told cool and it offers mediocre sound superiority.
Substitute to Phone: If you are looking ahead for touch screen phones like Samsung Star or LG KP500, I recommend you to consider yet again.
Causes to adore this Device:
- Touch screen phone in mid-range price
- Camera Clarity as match up to other phones is much better in this price range
- Clear Display
- 33 hours of Music Playback
- Carry on for almost three days with few calls, with one battery charge
- Phonebook is very opportune and uncomplicated to use
- Lay up Contacts with lots of Information
Drawbacks:
- No wifi
- No TV output
- No smart Dialing
- Scrolling the Page is not that good in initial use, but its lovely when it get normal
- Not offer Adobe reader or office document viewer by default.
- Style is not That impressive
But think again, still it is the finest phone to have in such price range. Imposing thing is that, it provides 3G support
You might not like this device:
- If you were addicted to use so much internet in past (you need to have wifi supportive phone)
- If you want to sms a lot, touch screen is not your type.
- If you need a phone with sexy look, you must go for 5800 but again, there is price disparity.
- If you love to listen to music through speakers, it has mono speakers. But music excellence in headphone is awesome.
- If you have been using E series in past like me, you will have problems to adjust yourself in any touch screen phone.

On earliest use: It will take little time for you to amend your hands on screen, but don’t dislike it. After couple of days you will love it.
Using Phone with Thumb: You can use Nokia 5230 with thumb effortlessly but it will give you some problem in scrolling pages only.
Construction: Nokia 5230 is made of plastic but don’t give you bad experience like other plastic casing phones like e63. It easily get adjust on your palm because of its thickness. Messaging, SMS, MMS and Email: Almost every touch screen phones share some similar features for texting. But touch screen phone is not good option for non-stop texting or typing long emails. But as compared to other touch screen phones it is much better. Handwriting features also works pretty well. And with the help of QWERTY keyboard it becomes painless for you to type long text. I have been using e63 from long time before getting my hands on this device. My main concern was having emails on my phone on the go. And it works pretty well for any emailing needs. Setting up email account was very easy like other Nokia phones. Nokia 5230 offers multiple email accounts as well. You might have some trouble because this phone don’t offers wifi and it will increase your billing so much in case you download heavy attachments along emails. But overall its good phone for emailing on the go.
Gallery: Nokia 5230 has pretty decent picture galley and give you thumbnail view of your collection. Also let you arrange your picture sorted on date and name bases. Zooming feature is also cool but sliding to other picture though thumb is not that fine and smooth.
Web browsing Experience: Web browsing experience on Nokia 5230 is not that good as compared to iPone but still its gives you very excellent experience. There is built-in RSS reader as well.

my recommendation is e63. since you are text addicted, you will not like 5230. e63 is much better…
